Privacy Policy

This policy explains what this static editorial site stores, what it does not collect, and how you can control cookie consent and optional browser preferences.

01 / Scope

Who we are and what this site does

The Sugar Atlas is an informational editorial guide about artisanal lollipops, candies, and flavor vocabulary. It contains two static pages: an article and this privacy policy. There are no user accounts, no checkout, no payment processing, no advertising placements, and no server-side form submissions.

Plain-language summary

Reading this site does not create an account. A first-party consent record is stored only after you make a cookie choice. Optional theme and tasting-list storage is used only if you allow it.

02 / Information

Information you may choose to share

The article’s contact form is a browser-based draft builder. When you press “Prepare email draft,” the text you entered is formatted into a link. The site does not transmit the text and does not store the message.

  • Email links. If you click “Open in email app,” your device’s email application opens a draft addressed to sugaratlas.notes@gmail.com. If you click “Open Gmail draft,” a compose window opens on Google’s website. Your email provider handles the message only if you choose to send it.
  • Copy and download actions. Copying your tasting list, downloading a text file, sharing the page, or copying the address operates locally in your browser. No copy is sent to us.
  • Sensitive information. Please do not include passwords, financial details, health information, or other sensitive personal data in a general editorial question.

03 / Cookies & storage

Cookies and local browser storage

The cookie banner appears until you make a choice. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics cookies, fingerprinting, or cross-site trackers. The site does not load fonts, scripts, styles, or images from third-party domains.

Storage used by this site
NameType & purposeCategoryRetention
sugaratlas_consentFirst-party cookie that records essential or all.Essential180 days
sugaratlas_consent_fallbackLocal storage fallback used only when cookies are blocked; records the same choice and an expiry time.Essential180 days
sugaratlas_themeOptional local value that remembers light or dark theme.OptionalUntil cleared or reset
sugaratlas_tasting_listOptional local list of selected flavor identifiers.OptionalUntil cleared or reset

If you choose “Essential only,” optional storage is not written and any previously stored optional values are removed. If you choose “Accept optional storage,” the site may remember your theme and tasting list on your current device. Changing your choice to essential later clears those optional values.

04 / Third parties

Third-party services and external links

All page assets—including the jQuery library, stylesheet, JavaScript, SVG marks, and photographs—are served as local files from this site. There are no embedded ads, analytics tags, social widgets, or remote font requests.

External navigation happens only when you deliberately choose it. The generated Gmail draft opens Google’s mail service, and mail links open your own email application. Those providers have independent privacy policies. Links to in-page sections and the other page of this site do not send data to a third party.

05 / Retention

How long information stays on your device

The consent cookie and its local fallback expire after 180 days. Optional theme and tasting-list values remain in browser storage until you clear them, change your preference to essential only, use the reset control on this page, or clear site data in your browser settings.

Email messages that you choose to send are retained by you and the relevant email provider according to your own settings and that provider’s policy. This site has no mailbox or database of submitted messages.

06 / Your choices

How to review or change your choices

  • Use Cookie settings in the footer or the control above to accept or reject optional storage.
  • Use Reset cookie choice and local data to remove the consent record and optional values, then display the cookie notice again.
  • Use your browser’s site-data controls to delete cookies and local storage for this domain at any time.
  • Use the theme control in the header to change the color theme for the current page. It is remembered only when optional storage is allowed.

Because this site uses no tracking technologies, “Do Not Track” and similar browser signals do not change site behavior.

07 / Children

Children’s privacy

This general-interest food article is not directed to children under 13, and the site does not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent an email through a contact link may use the contact address below to request that the message be deleted from the recipient mailbox.

08 / Updates

Changes to this policy

If the site’s storage or contact behavior changes, this page will be revised and the effective date above will be updated. Material changes will be described in plain language on this page. The current version applies to the static article and privacy pages only.
